Sample Set: Concert Series 125
Software: Hauptwerk VII
Genre: Modern
Description:
Born in 1955, Paul Edwards is an English composer who is perhaps best known for his very beautiful carol "No small Wonder". He has written many works; mainly for organ or choir and organ.
This is his excellent Turvey Tuba Tune which I have recently discovered.
Turvey refers to the small English Village in Bedfordshire where he was brought up and later served as organist.
It immediately grabs one with a very attractive tune and some great harmonies with exhibit a considerable jazz influence. The middle has some fine moments before the tuba reappears again in several different guises and keys.
I used the Concert 125 only because I wanted two different tubas - otherwise the piece is played on a relatively small registration.
