Description:	Johann Anton Auffmann's birth and death dates are not known, but he served as Kappelmeister at Kempten Abbey (in the Allgäu, Bavaria) from 1748–1756, succeeding the more well-known Franz Xavier Richter. Auffmann composed a number of instrumental works, and three organ preludes (of which this is one) are preserved in a volume in the Donaueschingen Court Library.
