Benjamin Cornelius-Bates (b. 1978) — Fanfare from "Organbook", BCB 18 (2010)
Benjamin Cornelius-Bates (b. 1978) is a native of Alaska. He was educated at the University of Montana (BM) and Duquesne University (MM, AD) where he has served as a faculty member in organ and sacred music. Cornelius-Bates also studied composition in Vancouver with Denis Bédard. He has held numerous organ positions and is a founding member of the Cinquefoil Ensemble. As a composer, Cornelius-Bates has written numerous works for organ and choir that have been performed throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe. As an improviser, he was a semi-finalist in the 2011 André Marchal International Improvisation Competition held in Biarritz.
