| Description: | This chorale, whose melody is by Johann Michael Haydn (1737-1806), the "little brother" of the more famous composer Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), is traditionally sung in Austria on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
That's why I composed my prelude and fughetta for it, which I play every year during the solemn procession at the Corpus Christi service.
I tried to compose it as much as possible in the style of the Haydn brothers.
The chorale setting with which I accompany the congregational singing is by Johann Pretzenberger (1897-1973), also an Austrian composer, who was cathedral organist in St. Pölten. |
