| Description: | Georgi Mushel (1909–1989) was a Russian-born composer, pianist, and educator whose career spanned the mid-20th century. He is best known as a key figure in the development of Soviet Uzbek classical music
Born in Tambov, Russia, he trained at the Moscow Conservatory (1930–1936).
During World War II, he moved to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and taught at the Tashkent Conservatory, becoming a founding figure in Uzbek art music.
His work combined Western (Soviet) classical training with traditional Uzbek folklore, known for being picturesque and vivid.
He was also a painter and his great love for his home country he expressed in his paintings and his compositions, which are inspired by the rich traditions and music of Uzbekistan. |
