Charles Callahan (1951–2023) was one of America's most prolific composers of sacred music, with over 300 published works. A graduate of the Curtis Institute and Catholic University, he studied across Europe with Flor Peeters, Daniel Roth, and at Solesmes Abbey. The Washington Post described his style as "gentle, confident lyricism." He received the AGO Distinguished Artist Award in 2014, authored two landmark books on American organ building history, and recorded a dozen solo albums on historic instruments. He died on Christmas Day 2023 at the age of 72.
