Firstly I would like to wish all users of ContreBombarde a Happy and peaceful Christmas. Thank the Lord that we have music to keep us going during these very difficult times that we find ourselves going through.
Those of you brought up on a diet of Kings Cambridge’s Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will need no introduction to this wonderful piece (apologies that this will be about the fifteenth version of the season!)
Rather than recording on my two favourite period instruments (the Green Monster or the awesome Krzeszow) I have opted to complete my trio of Christmas pieces on the formidable Auenkirche organ. No attempt to be Neo-classical in my registration, but this instrument has a clarity which is, perhaps, surprising to English organists brought up on tubby Harrisons and the like.
A little bit of Cymbelstern fun at the end to wish all a Merry Christmas!
