Description:
Joseph Reveyron was born in Lyons on September 2nd, 1917. He studied organ, harmony and counterpoint with Edouard Commette (1883-1967). He was appointed Commette's assistant at the Primatiale Saint-Jean in Lyons in 1954. When his teacher died, Reveyron became his successor as titulaire.

These two pieces "Deux Chorals à Notre Dame" are portraits of two events in Mary's life.
0:00 - l'annunciation - the angel Gabriel visits Mary to tell her she has been chosen of God to bear the Messiah. This movement evokes the mystery of the moment with colorful solos (reminds me a lot of Messiaen)
4:04 - la maternité - the birth of Jesus - The meolody and pleasant harmony portrays the simplicity and humble birth of Jesus
Performance: Live
