Description: | After a longer absence from home, today and in a few more uploads to follow, I present recordings of music I played while trying out Augustine's fine new sample set, which is a model of an organ built in 1989 by Aquincum for the Church of the Holy Spirit in the western Hungarian town of Győr, built on the site of the ancient Roman settlement of Arrabona.
The pieces I have chosen for this versatile instrument deal with the first lines of Psalm 31, which are – among others – paraphrased in the Protestant chorale “In dich hab ich gehoffet, Herr” (“In Thee have I hoped, Lord”) and at the end of the Ambrosian hymn “Te Deum”: “In te Domine, speravi”.
It begins with the chorale fantasia "In dich hab ich gehoffet, Herr" by the Lübeck composer and organist Franz Tunder (1614–1667).
It should be mentioned that I have added a little artificial reverberation (HauptwerkReverb-Church01-ORTF-6.7m-LR3.8s), as the original church room has very dry acoustics. In addition, I have adapted the temperament of the sample set to the music played where necessary – in this piece I use 1/4-comma-meantone temperament. |
