| Description: | From the Psalmbook of Boudewijn Zwart. First preludium is recorded via MIDI.
Boudewijn Zwart comes from a family of organists. He studied carillon at the Dutch Carillon School in Amersfoort and piano (main subject) at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam (the predecessor of the Conservatory of Amsterdam). In 1990 he won all categories of the triennial International Carillon Competition "Queen Fabiola" in Mechelen (Belgium).
Together with Henry Groen (1957), Zwart formed the Dutch Carillon Duo for many years. He is the city carillonneur of Dordrecht (Grote Kerk), Ede (Oude Kerk), Gouda (St. Janstoren), Amsterdam (Westertoren, Zuidertoren, and the Oude Kerk), Bergambacht (St. Laurentiustoren), Schoonhoven, IJsselstein, Barneveld, Apeldoorn, Wageningen and Zeewolde. He has several compositions to his name. He is president of the international carillon players association Eurocarillon.
In addition to playing the fixed carillons in church towers, Boudewijn Zwart has developed a mobile carillon with which concerts can be given anywhere, both in the open air and indoors. This carillon has fifty bronze bells. Under the title "Bell Moods" he gives concerts with classical music, jazz and folk music. He also performs in various children's programs and family shows.
Boudewijn Zwart is one of the founders of the Oude Haven Concert, which has taken place annually on the first Saturday of September in Schoonhoven since 1998. Since 2002, Zwart has also been in charge of the Carillon Institute Netherlands in Dordrecht, a private higher vocational training course for carillonneurs. |
