These variations on the Ballo del Granduca by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck are recorded on the Hauptwerk sample set of the big Marcussen organ of the Laurenskerk Rotterdam, sampled by Sonus Paradisi. The attribution of this work to Sweelinck is questionable. Some consider this work to be from Samuel Scheidt, especially because these variations show exactly how Scheidt treated other variations on popular tunes. Sweelinck or Scheidt: teacher and student, both excellent composers.
I only used the Rugwerk and the Borstwerk of this organ (and the Pedaal in the last variation), simply because they sound the most baroque.
