Description: | Herr, ich glaube, hilf mir Schwachen,
Laß mich ja verzagen nicht;
Du, du kannst mich stärker machen,
Wenn mich Sünd und Tod anficht.
Deiner Güte will ich trauen,
Bis ich fröhlich werde schauen
Dich, Herr Jesu, nach dem Streit
In der süßen Ewigkeit.
Today I celebrate my 400th upload!
For this event I worked for days on this piece - it should be something special.
This time I chose the chorale "Jesu der Du meine Seele" - but with the text of the last verse.
The result is again a monumental piece of music, which has a toccata, a 4-part fugue and a final chorale to offer in more than 10 minutes of playing time.
The main motif of the toccata is a melodic line with eighth-note movements that play in a strongly accentuated manner and that drives the music forward, so to speak.
The pedal adds its scent to the action at intervals of half a note, while the voices of the right hand - perhaps a little hectically - provide a very interesting carpet of sound. I admit that trying to play these two voices in the right hand is doomed from the start. The main motif is followed by a propulsive pedal solo, also extremely difficult to play (I played it with the manual). Embedded in the main motif is a manualiter that processes the chorale melody in all its facets, very strongly modulative. The counterpoint of the following fugue is already heard in this manualiter.
A strict 4-part fugue follows, at the end of which a pedal solo leads into the coda.
The work concludes with a simple chorale stanza.
But have fun now with my 400th upload!
