Description: | Hymn, with lyrics translated by Edward Caswall, 1814-1878, from St. Bernard of Clairvaux, 1091-1153.
We lived in Opera, Italy, south of Milan, from 2016-17. On the "shortcut" to the train station was the beautiful and peaceful Abbey of Chiaravalle (Clairvaux in French), where we loved to go on Sunday afternoons. St. Bernard founded this abbey in Lombardy, as well as others. He was a prolific writer, and his Latin text was translated into lyrics, which begin: "Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee..." which is one of my favorite hymns.
The first verse is from the hymnbook, the next two verses are played from Brent Jorgensen's "Organ Chains," Book 7, published by Jackman Music Co., Orem, Utah.
Some pictures I took at the abbey are attached. |
