John Hebden Schaffner (1945–1995) was born in Louisville, Kentucky and educated at Kentucky Southern College and the University of Kentucky. A self-taught pianist and organist, he composed and published a number of keyboard works with publishers including Concordia, Augsburg Fortress, World Library Publications, Belwin-Mills/Alfred, and Wayne Leupold Editions.
