There is so much contrasting color in the three movements starting with the brooding melodies and chord streams of the Prelude, reminiscent of the symphonies of Marcel Dupré.
The Andante demonstrates a beautiful melancholic melody, which is first announced on the Récit Trompette and later displayed on the Récit Clarinette. Between these two “A” sections is a lovely “B” section showcasing all of the 8’ flutes of the organ coupled together. The Harmonic Flutes soar in the climax of this section.
Then we explore the brilliance and exuberance of his Toccata with the Cavaillé-Coll tuttis in full rage mode.
