The third of Percy Whitlock's Reflections (Three Quiet Pieces).
This piece really is the epitome of Whitlock's style and for me, conjures up serene images of rural England. This serenity is perhaps surprising, given that he wrote this collection in the midst of the Second World War (1942-1945).
Whitlock calls for a second enclosed division, so I have made use of the virtual addition of an enclosed Echo division. Whilst not present on the real organ, I found that this allowed me to extract an even greater variety of colours from the already beautiful Schulze organ, so perhaps I'll keep it under expression... It was also a chance to give my two new DIY expression pedals a shake down. So far, they seem to work far better than the previous one.
I used a mix of the Choir and Echo 8 and 4 flutes throughout and the solo voice in the second section is the Swell 8' Oboe (with the Flute and Salicional to take the edge off, I think - can't quite remember).
