A fine chorale prelude on "Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott" by Johannes Barend Litzau (1822 – 1893).
Johannes Litzau was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He received organ lessons from local organists and by the age of twelve began to give organ concerts. In 1843 he became organist of the Presbyterian Congregation in Rotterdam and in 1855 in the Evangelical Lutheran congregation there. Besides teaching and playing organ, he also wrote articles for Dutch and German organ magazines. He was also frequently asked to examine organs and organists.
The first part of this prelude (cf in the upper voice) is indicated as 'mit sanfte Labialstimmen' (with soft foundation stops), the second part (cf in the Pedal) 'Animato, Organo pleno'.
I hope you'll enjoy this fine piece, played on the Hinsz at Bovenkerk, Kampen.
