This chorale prelude is from the Neumeister Collection. In fantasia style, the work ends with bravura figuration, perhaps symbolic of Simeon’s joyful ‘departure’? (Lord God, now open wide thy heaven, my parting hour is near). Or as my father-in-law would say, 'shut the door I'm coming through the window!'
