E J Johnson & Sons are a well-respected Cambridge, UK organ builder. This recording is a small tribute to Bill Johnson, who ran the firm for over 40 years until his death last year. Bill carried out two partial rebuilds for churches where I was the organist and I particularly like his trademark silvery diapason choruses.

Johnsons built a number of chamber organs similar to this one, including two continuo instruments that were for many years used in Kings College Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds Cathedral. This sample set reproduces the Johnson chamber organ sound very faithfully.
