I have been thinking about transcribing this piano piece for some time and have finally got around to it. It's generally considered to be about Grade 8 or slightly above for piano and this organ transcription doesn't increase or decrease the difficulty. The pedal part has purposely been left quite simple.
I feel that it transcribes really well and makes a superb concert piece in typical French style.
This was the first piece published by Ravel who is not known for an organ repertoire. However, he was not unfamiliar with the capabilities of the instrument and indeed, at one point in his famous Bolero, he gets the flute (or piccolo) to play at tierce pitch for extra colour.
Whilst it was performed on the Silver Octopus Concert 125, the 100 model would perform it identically and even the 75 and 85 would perform it almost identically.
