Hymns to Help Us Through – #40 – “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”...

Hello, everyone!!

I’m excited to share my first recording on the 1928 E.M. Skinner virtual pipe organ (see the details below about this virtual pipe organ)! The hymn I chose is no coincidence: “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”, the hymn that Emily and I used as the processional at our wedding (what a wonderful day that was!). Sometimes we need to be reminded of the joy of God that’s all around us, especially in these continuing difficult days. I hope you’ll find this hymn to be a blessing! :)

Today’s recording is audio only – I didn’t have the video cam with me.

By the way, you’ll definitely want to use headphones – the sound of this pipe organ is amazing!! (Be sure to start the volume low.) The words for today’s hymn are below, in case you want to sing along! :)

“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

Tune: Hymn to Joy

Joyful, joyful, we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
hearts unfold like flowers before thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the dark of doubt away;
giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

All thy works with joy surround thee, earth and heav’n reflect thy rays,
stars and angels sing around thee, center of unbroken praise;
field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
chanting bird and flowing fountain, call us to rejoice in thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest,
well-spring of the joy of living, ocean-depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are thine;
teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals join the mighty chorus, which the morning stars began;
Father love is reigning o’er us, Brother love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife;
joyful music leads us sunward in the triumph song of life.
Amen.

Blessings! :)
