Advent and Christmas (34): "Gottes Sohn ist kommen"

Georg Andreas Sorge (1703-1778) was court organist in Lobenstein (Germany), where he composed some organ music. He also published a noteworthy improvisation school book and also some scripts concerning musictheoretical questions.

This choral prelude is composed as a trio: the lively upper voice is accompanied by the basso continuo in sixteenth chains; the chorale melody occurs in even notes, line by line in the tenor voice.
