Hommage to Willem Vogel

Willem Vogel was a very important figure in the Dutch music history of the 20th century, and very humble and great human being. He wrote hymns, choral works as well as organ works, which are all very musical.

While practicing some of his pieces, I felt inspired to do a little improvisation attempting his style.

Although a very calm man, yet his music caries a lot of -almost nervous- energy, and this may be reflected in my improvisation.

Here and there you will notice hints of hymn-like melodic lines.

There is a very nice interview with him by his son (in Dutch) on YouTube, but it doesn't cover his organ music at all, alas.
