Gunther Martin Göttsche was born 1953 in Bad Oldesloe. He studied church music and composition in Mannheim and Berlin-Spandau and worked in Aalen, Braunschweig, Schlüchtern and Heidelberg. Since 2013 he has been responsible for the church music at the German Lutheran Church in Jerusalem.
