Torsten Sörensen (1908–1992) — Fantasia in modo dorico, op. 27, no. 6 (1955) for organ
Swedish composer and organist Torsten Napoleon Sörensen (1908–1992) was educated at the Swedish Royal Conservatory of Music. He was organist at the Nikolaikyrkan in Göteborg from 1935–47 and at the Oscar Fredriks kyrka from 1946–75. He was on the faculty of the Göteborg Musikhögskola from 1952–76. He composed and published around 200 works in many genres. His characteristically Swedish style uses tonal and modal elements with great freedom, moving quickly from luminous consonance to stark dissonance.
