Description: | Ernest Halsey was born in Battersea, London in April of 1876. He was Organist of Anerley Congregational Church, London, around 1903.
Halsey was also a stockbroker. He died at Marylebone, London on June 20th, 1939.
"Canzonetta" is a charming and well-crafted work. It features a "chant-like song" in the opening and close section, while the middle part is a neatly written canon.
The music is sweet, but not "sticky," and has a warm melodic and harmonic appeal.
It was with real pleasure that I dedicate these two Halsey uploads to my collaborating partner, Erzahler.
Andrew, your friendship is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to many more shared musical adventures with you!
