Description:
The Buxheim Organ Book: a collection of sacred and secular keyboard music from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance contains three versions of the spring song “Der Winter will hin wichen, der was mir huwer also lang” (Winter is coming to an end, which has been with me for so long), taken from the Lochamer Songbook. The Middle High German text may go back to the poet Neidhart von Reuental. The unknown composer set the folk song, which was very popular in his day, to music in “Tempus perfectum,” the three-part meter considered “perfect” as a symbol of the Trinity.
The swallow's nest organ of Notre-Dame in Lorris (France) is considered one of the oldest sounding organs in the country. The case and most of the pipes date from 1501 and were extensively renovated and restored in 1681 and 1974.
