Murray C. Bradshaw (1930–2018) — Variations on “Lo, How a Rose” (1993) for organ
American musicologist Murray C. Bradshaw (1930–2018) was born in Chicago and was educated at the University of Chicago and the American Conservatory of Music. For 38 years, he taught at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where he served as chair of musicology. He was also the principal organist for the Christian Science Church of Woodland Hills, California. Bradshaw published a number of scholarly books and articles including “The Origin of the Toccata” (1972), “The Falsobordone: A Study in Renaissance and Baroque Music” (1978), and “Early Sacred Monody” (4 vols; 1985–2007). He also served as the general editor of "Musicological Studies and Documents" and the "Miscellanea" series for the American Institute of Musicology.
