Description:
... durch das stille Nebeltal,
Rauscht erwachend Wald und Hügel:
Wer da fliegen kann, nimmt Flügel!

Und sein Hütlein in die Luft
Wirft der Mensch vor Lust und ruft:
Hat Gesang doch auch noch Schwingen,
Nun, so will ich fröhlich singen!

Hinaus, o Mensch, weit in die Welt,
Bangt dir das Herz in krankem Mut;
Nichts ist so trüb in Nacht gestellt,
Der Morgen leicht machts wieder gut.

A song from the "Taugenichts" by the romantic poet Joseph v. Eichendorff.
In school - when we read this beautiful story - my German teacher attested me a flair for lyricism, well, it became rather the music in the further course.
At that time - at the end of the 70s - I had composed a movement for it (The melody is from Jürgen Bendig), which we sang in a vocal quartet, I can remember it quite clearly. Unfortunately, this score ist lost, so - a good 40 years later - I composed another movement (A), and again 3 years later added a canonic version (B). In doing so, I found that this melody lends itself perfectly to a canon.The melody is quasi self-similar, the doctors of theoretical physics would state ;-)

We hear 5 verses A - B - A - B - A on the sample set of the Eisenbarth organ at Friesach with different dispositions.
