Composer: Curzon, Frederic
Sample Producer: Melotone Sound Productions
Sample Set: Wyton House Compton 4/16
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Theatre
Description:
Recently on social media there has been some chat about the differing sounds and styles of the major builders of theatre organs. So here is a piece that I would always choose to play on a Compton. I first heard this played by Nigel Ogden on the finest 7 ranker ever at Clayhall. Here is my version on the 4/16 Wyton House (Ex Astoria, Southend) sample set from Melotone Sound productions.

The music is by Frederic Curzon 1899 - 1973, a renowned UK composer and organist. This piece was written in 1947 and translated means "good fortune". It is dedicated to "All who go down to the sea in ships".

I love playing this sample set - it reminds me of my visits to Liz and Peter in their lovely home outside Cambridge. They were always fine and gracious hosts. This piece is played in quite a different acoustic however !
