Description: | Here I play Robert Hebble's [toccatina] titled "Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest" from the collection "Music for the Masses".
This exhilarating toccata is short (but sweet!) based on the popular hymn tune LAMBILLOTTE. This hymn is well-known, particularly in Catholic circles, and is regularly sung at Pentecost and Confirmation ceremonies to invite the Holy Ghost into your soul.
Robert Hebble seems a relatively obscure figure who once served as assistant to Virgil Fox. I never hear his name banded about, but I discovered this piece via another YT performance and I was very fortunate to find a used copy of "Music for the Masses" which is sadly out of print, but replete with little gems equal to this. It is a treasure that I now guard carefully.
"Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest,
And in our hearts take up Thy rest,
Come with Thy grace and heav'nly aid
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made,..."
Recorded in honor of the Feast of Pentecost and in memory of Robert Hebble who just passed a few short months ago in February of 2020.
