I first discovered Göran Valter Arnberg's "Étude Polymétrique" after the composer shared a link to a different work of his on the Dorico forum. I was perusing his channel and happened upon his own recording of this work (on piano). I was absolutely enthralled by it and decided to adapt it to organ since he graciously shares a link to the score on his own YT recording.
This is a curious work that alternates meters in each hand and frequently has disparate meters out of alignment (and thus mis-matched barlines), and yet it works very well. I typically avoid "modern" classical music but this piece just pulled me right in.
I must confess, however, that it did take my brain a while to adapt; it is especially tricky because the pseudo-ostinato in the left hand frequently alternates between having 7 and 8 notes.
I adapted a pedal part which is not original to the score, mostly accentuating down beats. It works well although often the pedal sounds late since the pattern is shifted by a single 8th note multiple times (this effect is accentuated since larger pedal pipes often do not speak promptly). I still think it is successful, however, and worth the additional effort.
