Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Romantic
Description:
I was quite surprised to find out that C. A. Kern is new to Contrebombarde, so here is a quick introduction:

C. A. Kern was born in 1836 in Bobenhausen, Hessia. After studying in Friedberg, he worked as a school teacher and organist in several places: Villingen (1854–1859), Ilbeshausen (1859–1864), Hartershausen bei Schlitz (1864–1869), Schlitz (1869–1879) and finally Laubach (1879–1897).
Kern is particularly famous for the setting of more than 100 of Georg Christian Dieffenbach's children's songs.
He also composed many organ pieces for service use. Typically his compositions were published as collections with well-sounding names such as "Orgelfreund" (organ friend), "Orgelschatz" (organ treasure).
Kern died in 1897 in Laubach.

In this recording you hear three pieces from the collection "Zwölf Vor- und Nachspiele für die Orgel", Op. 46, published in 1882:

1. #4 - Präludium G major

2. #6 - Präludium F major

3. #11 - Nachspiel C major
