Description: | Zundel or Rinck, that's the question.
Johannes Zundel was born in Germany, but emigrated to the United States to become John Zundel. Among his many works is a work called "The Modern School for the Organ". In the preface Zundel writes "the voluntaries
are mostly selected from the works of Rink, (whose pupil the author had the good fortune to be, and from whom he received a number of compositions, which are now herein for the first time published,) Schneider, Best, and others.". On the pages 104-116 he presents 8 trio's, 5 of which are undoubtely Rinck's, because they are also in my edition of Rinck trio's. But Zundel does not give any indication in his edition of who wrote the works. So, are the remaining three trio's from Rinck? Or Zundel himsel? Or another composer? They are in different keys then the 12 I allready posted, which supports the idea they belong to Rinck's opus 20. But it's not hard proof.
If you want to look for yourself, "The Modern School for the Organ" is available on imslp: http://imslp.org/wiki/The_Modern_School_for_the_Organ_(Zundel,_John)
Like before with the trio's of Rinck, I present these three trio's as one set. The first is in A flat major, the second in D major, and the last one in b minor. |
