Here is a rather pretty little Italian romantic toccata which carries rather nicely on instruments without huge resources. This piece I first discovered on this very website and often return to as it is such fun to play.
Mattioli lived from 1857-1924. He was professor of organ in Parma and later of composition in Bologna. One of the attractions of his music comes from the fact that he had the little finger of his right hand amputated as a child due to trauma - his music should therefore be one finger easier than most composers - a disability which he obviously overcame as I need all of mine to play it !!
