Description: | Camil van Hulse (1897-1988) was born in Belgium was trained at the Conservatory of Antwerp.
Because of ill health, he moved to the warm, dry climate of Arizona, and had a significant influence on the musical life of the city.
He was founder and director of the Tuscon Symphony Orchestra, and Organist and Director of Music at the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul.
He wrote a sizeable amount of music in many forms, some of which is quite significant, though rarely heard.
"Marche Pontificale" was written for his daughter, and is dedicated: "For Lolita van Hulse on her wedding day". It was published by J. Fischer Bro. in 1962.
It is fun piece with LOTS of fanfares on both the BIG Solo Tuba, as well as the smaller, Solo Tromba.
Although I rarely do/use MIDI's, I know that many of you enjoy them, so I did one of this piece... ;-)
The performance isn't identical to the recorded one, but, it's close enough! :-) |
