Sample Producer: Sonus Paradisi
Sample Set: Freiberg Silbermann
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Baroque
Description:
My "final version" of the C minor P/F, BWV 847. The Freiberg surround provides a great sound for this piece.

Some more in depth thoughts on the structure of this P/F can be found on http://bachwelltemperedclavier.org/pf-c-minor.html.

Looking at recordings of some prominent keyboarders, its quite interesting how different they are. Many start the C minor prelude up (almost) in full speed, and then have little resources to play a contrasting presto (see e.g. Angela Hewitt, her intro section is at 121 BPM and her presto at 144 BPM). Very convincing on the other hand is Schiff's 2012 version, medium tempo and a wonderfully clear and controlled presto - inspiring! Also interesting: Compare Gould's presto at 119 BPM and Hantai at 180 - very "Gouldish" indeed.
