An Elf on a Moonbeam (Retrospection)

I heard this piece the first time in a concert of Anna Lapwood and was quite fascinated of it.

Now that I play it myself, it reminds me of film music. I imagined something like a Disney movie of the 1950's, an evening scene maybe in the forrest or nearby a lake. The beginning section of the piece paints the entire scene and the feeling of this warm summer evening.

Suddenly (1:12) there appears the Elf (on a Moonbeam) and sneaks up cautiously at first (played far away on III/IV), then a bit more boldly (on HW, other manuals coupled). The nature and maybe some animals react to her. The rest is your imagination how Disney movies and music works. From 2:05 on maybe the Elf sings a song and is dancing throughout the scene, who knows.

Anyways, it was very much fun to exercise and play this piece :-)

And here some information about Florence Price (1887/88-1953), she was one of the first female afroamerican composers and also (one of?) the first afroamerican woman whose works were played in the big concert halls (and that in the 30's!).
