Composer: Schmidt, Franz
Sample Set: Schwerin, Dom, Ladegast Organ
Software: Hauptwerk VIII
Genre: Romantic
Description:
Franz Schmidt (1874–1939) was an Austrian composer of the late Romantic or "Post-Romantic" period.

His best-known organ work is the Prelude in D major, composed in 1928, which also appears (in a sung version for choir and orchestra with "Hallelujah"-text) in his in 1937 finished oratorio "Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln" and is therefore often called the "Hallelujah Prelude."

In my opinion, this festive piece sounds best on a large, romantic cathedral organ, such as the magnificent, monumental Ladegast organ in Schwerin Cathedral.
