Triptyque sur des thèmes de la Pentecote

Édouard Andrès (1930–2004) was a French organist, pedagogue, and composer from Alsace. Born in Strasbourg, he spent much of his career in Colmar, serving as a professor at the conservatory and as the titular organist at the Church of Saint-Joseph.

This upload presents his "Triptyque sur des thèmes de la Pentecôte" (Triptyque over themes for Pentecost), a work based on three traditional Gregorian hymns. In the opening movement, the music brilliantly evokes the flickering flames and the rushing wind of the Holy Spirit descending.
