Description:
William Walond 1719-1768 was an English organist and composer from Oxford. He graduated from the University in 1757 where he had been Assistant Organist at Christ Church Oxford. He wrote much music for organ or harpsichord, and at least one anthem the most well known being Not Unto Us, O Lord, a setting of Psalm 115.
Here I play Walonds Siciliana in D minor, part of a larger voluntary that I cannot seem to find the rest of the music for. It is a melancholic piece, that lilts gently along like mist rising of the English countryside. I play it on the organ of Adlington Hall, Cheshire via Hauptwerk. This is the oldest known playable organ in England, and one that Handel himself played when he visited his friends at Adlington Hall. Rumour has it that the Harmonious Blacksmith variations were written here.

I recorded this in January this year, but never got round to posting it. I hope you enjoy!
