Johann Baptist Peyer (1678–1733) was an Austrian organist and composer of Baroque music for keyboard instruments, which was primarily intended for liturgical use. He received his musical training at Heiligenkreuz Abbey, where he initially worked as an organist and music teacher before entering imperial service in Vienna on the recommendation of court Kapellmeister Johann Joseph Fux and performing in the court chapel of Emperor Charles VI. His compositions include preludes and fugues in all church modes, as well as liturgical pieces, such as the two Capriccios for the Elevation or the contrapuntal fugue, a brilliant finale following the Agnus Dei to conclude the Mass. 0:00 Capriccio pro Elevatione RW 52 1:30 Capriccio pro Elevatione RW 53 2:29 Fuga post Dona nobis pacem RW 54
