| Description: | Arnold von Bruck (c.1500-1554) was an important Franco-Flemish composer, Kapellmeister, and cleric of the Renaissance. His name von Bruck refers to his birthplace, Bruges. However, he worked primarily for the Habsburgs, serving as court Kapellmeister in Vienna for 18 years. He died as a respected man in Linz. In addition to a few profane songs, he is mainly known for his numerous sacred works, which were valued in liturgical practice by both Catholics and Protestants. His choral version of “Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir” (From deep affliction I cry out to you) from 1544 is a polyphonic arrangement of the cantus firmus; Harold Richards transcribed it for organ in 2019 (sheet music: PMLP135345-Arnoldus de Bruck - Aus tiefer Not, transcribed for organ or quartet (3 staves, note values halved).pdf, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
