Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750): The Fantasia in C major BWV 570, is an early work by Bach from his time in Arnstadt. This piece is influenced by the Italian style, but with a slightly Baroque interpretation on a Romantic instrument with dominant 8' and 4' timbres, it imaginatively approaches early Classics/Romanticism. The instrument from St. Anne's, Moseley Birmingham, the grande dame and mother of all Hauptwerk samples, responds to this approach in a ‘British’ way: with acoustically subtle glitches and well-deserved dignity.
