Composer: Johann-Melchior DREYER (1746-1824)
Sample Set: Johannes Klais organ (2022), Lubin, Poland - Piotr Grabowski
Software: Hauptwerk IX
Genre: Classicism
Description:
JM Dreyer was born in Röttingen (Würtenberg) in 1747.He was school teacher in Ellwangen and director of music in St Mary church. In 1779 he was appointed organist in Ellwangen monastery. He composed around 50 masses and Requiems, chamber music and sonatas for the organ. He died in Ellwangen in 1824.
The 22th sonata in Eb M is a perfect exemple of the "Galant" style. It's a very nice work in two parts : first a largo (that I played more like an Andante) and then an Allegro with a few little traps for the fingers.
It was for me the opportunity to explore some possibilities of the organ of Lubin, perfectly suited for this music.
