This is the last Offertoire of the collection of 9 Offertoires destined for the principal services in the Christmas season.
It is forseen for Epiphany, the feast, which ends the "12 days of Christmas". It uses the noel "Grace soit dieu". As the final and closing piece of a cycle, which takes, playing the pieces in a row roughly 40 minutes, it finishes in a huge climax.
It has a calm opening section, somewhat similar to some of the other offertoires, the middle part evolves into a carillon like section (a setting, Chauvet seems to like ...) to finish in a huge fortissimo of the main theme.
