Moritz Vogel (1846–1922) was a German Romantic composer. He worked as an organist, music critic, and music teacher, creating an abundant oeuvre comprising works in a wide variety of genres, among them many piano pieces.
His Zauberflöten-Sonatine, Op. 48, No. 3, is a piano sonatina in the typical style of 19th-century salon music. In its three movements, it uses melodies and themes from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute. It is the third of a set of three similar sonatinas.
Dusiburg's Mercator organ, build in the English Romantic style, is very suitable for this kind of literature, providing with its lush, romantic sound a reminiscence of the original orchestral sound.
With this piece, I wish you all a good, happy and healthy year 2026.
