Rolande Falcinelli was a student of Marcel Dupre, and succeeded him as organ professor at the Paris Conservatoire. She was a pioneer composer for the organ, searching for new techniques and greater virtuosity. She wrote several hours of organ music, much of it remains unknown to most organists.
This is the 3rd etude from her organ method "Initiation a l'orgue". In addition to exercises, the volume also contains 12 etudes covering different techniques as well as some other pieces. The Method is dedicated "A mon Maître Marcel Dupré", very fittingly, as both Falcinelli and Dupré wrote extensively for students, and both taught the organ class at the Conservatoire.
I figured something obscure was a fine way to end the year...
