Louis Dietsch - Offertoire pour le Jour de Noël (Répertoire Complet de l'Organiste - 1841)
Sample set of Souvingy.
A few years ago, Mr. Perrot published several pieces of music from various manuscripts he found in the tribune of the Clicquot organ at Souvigny. These were published as the "Livre d'Orgue de Souvigny", and several of the pieces were attributed by their various copyists to several composers, such as Louis Dietsch, and d'Ortigue, etc. Several of these pieces seem to in fact have been copied from the "Répertoire Complet de l'Organiste", edited by Louis Dietch and published in 1841 (though not every piece is necessarily of his composition). given this, and the similarity of some of the Offertoires present in the Livre d'Orgue to those in the Répertoire Complet, clearly some organist(s) at Souvigny (or visiting) took an interest in this publication, so this Offertoire pour le Jour de Noël by Dietsch (Répertoire Complet 1st year 11th livraison) seemed to be an appropriate piece not only for this time of year, but also this sample set recently released.
