Präludium D-Dur Op. 12 Nr. 2 Uploaded by: Romanus Composer: Albrechtsberger, Johann Georg Organ: Stumm organ Meisenheim Software: Hauptwerk VIII Views: 47
Johann Georg Albrechtsberger (1736-1809) was an Austrian composer and organist who was by the way teacher of Ludwig van Beethoven.
I played this prelude very often, because it´s the very first I use to play whenever I try out an organ for the first time, but in the past it has never sounded so beautiful like on the Dreifaltigkeitsorgel of the Abbey Ottobeuren.
I play this piece always with the same registration with the "small" Hauptwerk plenum, i.e., the principals 8' + 4' + 2' + mixture. In this special case I use the "Waldflet 2´" because the Drefaltigkeitsorgel has no Octave 2´ in the Hauptwerk (Manual 2).
If the piece already sounds full and rich with this rather slim registration, then the organ has passed the test.
I call this my "Albrechtsberger-Test" and there are only a view organs which pass this test.
